CONTACT

REGIONAL SDC

It is WADL's firm belief that the opportunity to debate should be available to all Western Australian students, regardless of their postcode. We do not accept that the benefits debating delivers to students should be limited to the Perth metropolitan area!

We currently run annual inter-school debating competitions in Albany, Mandurah, and the South-West. We also hold specialised debating competitions in Geraldton and Kalgoorlie.

Registrations for RSDC 2020 will open in February.

POSTPONEMENTS & FORFEITS

Complete this if a team is unable to make a debate. Please note that it is the responsibility of the coordinator to confirm the postponement or forfeit with the coordinator of the opposing team well in advance of the scheduled debate.

ALBANY SDC

The  Albany Schools Debating Competition has been running for five consecutive years. The very first of WADL's regional programs the Albany competition engages with all four major high schools in the Great Southern Region and engages with over 50 students. The exponential growth of the competition has been astounding and we are looking forward to growing the competition this year.

We are no into the Albany finals. If you have any questions about this or about adjudicating please don't hesitate to contact Cohen and Jess at albanyconvenor@wadl.org!

MANDURAH SDC

The Mandurah Schools Debating Competition has provided students with the opportunity to cultivate and develop their public speaking skills in a supportive environment. The Mandurah competition has engaged with five major schools in the region and more than 40 students. Not accepting this as the upward bound, WADL is looking forward to expanding this competition further. Similar to other regional competitions, schools and students in the Mandurah region are provided seminars at the beginning of the season to ensure a strong start to the competition.

Our Mandurah competitions have finished for the year, but our British Parliamentary Competition is just around the corner! If you have any questions about the upcoming Competition or about adjudicating please don't hesitate to contact Cameron and Millie at mandurahconvenor@wadl.org!

SOUTH-WEST SDC

The South-West Schools Debating Competition is the largest of WADL's regional competitions. This competition has been running since 2016 and has engaged with 9 regional schools and more than 150 students. Based in Bunbury, the region has provided strong delegations to both Country Week and the British Parliamentary Debating Competition. The competition has been running with the generous support of Edith Cowan University and Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School and provides students from the South-West region with the opportunity to develop their debating skills. Through an intensive development day at the start of the season, we intend on creating the highest standard of competition possible.

We are no into the Albany finals. If you have any questions about this or about adjudicating, contact Russell at bunburyconvenor@wadl.org!

REGIONAL VICE-PRESIDENT

GERALDTON

The newest additions to WADL's regional program students from Geraldton and Kalgoorlie are provided a unique one day debating carnival. These debating carnivals seek to marry the development focus of our workshops with the fun of a regional debating competition. Being introduced in 2018 these debating carnivals have achieved success in developing public speaking skills in a unique environment. We are looking forward to continuing these trailblazing programs and would love your involvement!

If you have any questions about the development seminars or future competitions in Geraldton, or about adjudicating please don't hesitate to contact Anna at geraldtonconvenor@wadl.org!
