PRIMARY SCHOOL SEMINARS
WADL has developed a specially tailored introduction to debating program for Primary School students to further critical thinking and public speaking skills. In 2019, WADL engaged with City Beach Primary School, Hale Junior School, Christ Church Grammar School and Quinns Rocks Primary School. Students worked closely with passionate WADL presenters to develop an advanced understanding of debating. The programs concluded with a formal debate, allowing students to apply their new knowledge and showcase their debating skills to their teachers and peers.
The program is a 5 week course consisting of five development seminars.
These seminars will focus on:
a Formal Debate
The course also aims to teach some core aspects of the national curriculum such as rights and responsibilities, current events and persuasive writing skills.
For more information or to book our Primary Schools Development Course, please contact WADL's Development Officer at firstname.lastname@example.org
Seminars cost $440 for the whole 5 week course, with 1 seminar normally costing $110. This cost applies per class of children (approx 20-30 max).
There is a discount available for schools with an ICSEA value below 1030.

Our regional residences are are designed to expose students in regional areas to the critical thinking skills and public speaking confidence that comes with debating. WADL believes these skills have an important role in the community and should be available to all students. WADL's regional residencies span over five days and are delivered in a fun and engaging way by our expert presenters.
Each year, WADL presenters travel to Christmas Island District High School to deliver comprehensive debating seminars to the school's students. The program teachers students crucial skills that they can apply to their learning outside of debating. Specifically, the material is designed to prepare students for Country Week, an inter-school tournament held in Perth, and for a Model United Nations. Our Christmas Island Residency is highly anticipated by our presenters who thoroughly enjoy working with eager students each year.
Our Alice Springs Residency is funded by the Department of Education and takes place at Alice Springs Centralian Middle and High School. Passionate WADL presenters take classes of students over the five day period. The program is focused on public speaking confidence, critically analysing arguments, and understanding the structure of arguments.
Please contact our Chief Convenor at email@example.com for more information on regional residencies.
