2016 Southwest Schools Debating Competition

The Southwest Schools Debating Competition is WADL's newest Debating Competition, and is all students living in the Southwest Region of Western Australia are invited to participate. The Competition provides students from the Southwest Region with the opportunity to develop their debating skills. Through seminars for students, teachers and coaches at the beginning and middle of the season, we intend on creating the highest standard of competition possible.

The Competition will run over five rounds before the final series, which culminates with the Grand Final in Term 3. Students will compete in Novice (years 7 & 8), Junior (year 9 & 10) or Senior Divisions (year 11 & 12). The dates for each round are:

  • Round 1: Thursday May 5
  • Round 2: Thursday May 19
  • Round 3: Thursday June 2
  • Round 4: Thursday June 16
  • Round 5: Thursday June 23
  • Semi Final: Thursday July 28
  • Grand Final: Wednesday August 10
Debates will be hosted at Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School and Georgiana Molloy Anglican School on Thursday Evenings.
